Iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide are naturally occurring and commonly found in well water, especially here is Northwest Indiana. Iron and manganese cause unsightly staining in fixtures and clothing along with giving the water a metallic taste and smell. Hydrogen Sulfide gives water that recognizable and unbearable rotten egg odor. Luckily, treating these contaminants is fairly easy, so you don't have to live with water quality that you do not love. Give us a call today to discuss your water quality concerns and schedule your free in-home water testing!
Water quality is different in every situation and every home deserves a system that will not only work well but efficiently. Our systems are built custom made to fit your exact needs and wants. This means that no matter how nasty your water may be, we can make sure you are taken care of and satisfied with your water.
The Fleck 5600 SXT control valve is standard for systems up to 1.5 cu ft in size.
The Fleck 2510 SXT control valve is standard for 2.0 cu ft systems and above.
Depending on water quality, we offer a variety of media options for different uses.
Centaur Catalytic Carbon, Birm, Katalox Lite, Greensand
Our tanks come standard in black, but we can also get tanks in almond and blue colorways.
The DuraWater Air Injection Iron Eater uses the Fleck 5600 SXT control valve to remove iron, sulfur, and manganese from the water. The system draws in a pocket of air during the regeneration and maintains that air pocket in the top of the tank while the system is in service. As water passes through the tank, it goes firstly through the air pocket where the contaminants are oxidized. After being oxidized, the filter media bed collects the contaminants and the system flushes them out during the regeneration. A daily backwash will remove accumulated iron and replenish the filter media bed.
This system comes standard equipped with the Fleck 5600 SXT air injection control head that automatically back washes the system daily to clean the media and flush everything down the drain. This control valve is completely programmable and is able to be programmed to work as efficiently as possible for each individual water scenario.
Some symptoms of bacteria in the well are slimy buildup and unpleasant "swampy" taste or smell. It is important to have your well tested for bacteria by a professional lab. Well water with bacteria such as Iron or Sulfur Bacteria can be trickier to treat than standard contaminants. A well shock treatment is usually enough to completely disinfect the well and kill the bacteria for good. Sometimes, though, you'll need to shock the well a couple of times to completely get rid of it. If the bacteria is recurrent and is not removed with shock treatments, consistent bacteria removal is required.
The most common way to treat recurrent bacteria is chemical injection. Most commonly chlorine or hydrogen peroxide injection, the chemicals kill bacteria and oxidize iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide.
